Overdraft fee are insane. My payroll check came in first. Then three checks after. Because a computer says all checks coming in that day were not covered I was charged $37.00 for each check. $111.00. That's like a million dollars to me. Job loss. Check to check. I am writing the Better Business. This bank should be investigated. Then I call and have to wait a half hour for a... Read more

I have a car loan with Fifth Third Bank. I didn't have car insurance (and didn't know I was taken off the policy by a family member) so the bank (WITHOUT NOTICE) adds insurance to the account. Upon realization, I immediately enroll in auto insurance. The month (or so) that I did not have insurance, they said they would back track and not charge me when I did enroll (Call on 3/14/14 with employee... Read more

In reading through all of these customer issues, practically all of them are due to a lack of accountability on the customer's part. The customer has to take responsibility for following through and correcting any errors--irregardless of whose "fault" they may be. Mistakes will happen; YOU have to be dilligent enough to fix them. As a customer, if you don't care about keeping track of your own... Read more

Used to be not a bad bank. Now they charge for everything! I have a very significant amt. of money in the bank and they assured me that there would be no charge for checks (which I understand is a policy that has recently been changed w/o notification of customers); I went in the bank recently and ordered checks, waited 6 weeks and they never arrived, went back in the bank and they had them... I am not going into detail -- but the phone system doesn't work and they keep directing me to the wrong department. I get calls from over 5 different area codes over 8 times a day even if my mortage loan payment is only 1 day late. I get calls all hours just to harass me even at 8AM on Sunday and even at 9:30PM. The 5/3 *** said they had the right to call any time. THe 5/3 records are never... Read more

I have been commuting between Texas and Ohio - while my primary residence is Ohio, I had my mail forwarded to a Texas, P.O. Box address. I have been making my mortgage payments as usual but out of the blue I received a notice that my mortgage payment was delinquent. I pulled my bank statement (luckily from a different bank) and saw that 5th-3rd had cashed my checks. With evidence in hand, I... Read more

There was an annual fee on a credit card that I have never used, and attempted to close out months ago but was told not to by the bank because it would ruin my credit. Suddenly I received a message through mail that they had taken money out for my overdue charges. For a $1 annual charge, I was charged 25$ a month (plus another small charge) because I didn't pay it. The manager at this branch said... Read more
