Financed a car with Fifth Third thru a car dealer. Was pleased with the 3% interest rate. I received my payment coupon book 12 days after car purchase. I mailed each car payment at least 10 days before the due date, they cashed each check approx. 7-9 days after I mailed it. My 82 year old father attempted to cash a check from Wayne State University. He sits on the board and has done so for years. He entered the bank an elderly black man wearing his yard clothes. Accidentally paid a bill using the wrong account in drop down. Realized by end of next day, paid in amount to cover bill but they had already returned it in spite of ample funds in my other accounts, then charged me. Thought I had it covered but they charged again and then blocked all my accounts online bill paying. All for $37 when every other account was in very good health. All they would say... Read more

Overdraft fee are insane. My payroll check came in first. Then three checks after. Because a computer says all checks coming in that day were not covered I was charged $37.00 for each check. $111.00. I have a car loan with Fifth Third Bank. I didn't have car insurance (and didn't know I was taken off the policy by a family member) so the bank (WITHOUT NOTICE) adds insurance to the account. Upon realization, I immediately enroll in auto insurance. The fifth third on 33rd and Damen in Chicago IL is the only one that is such a hassle they are terrible they have only one teller working the drive thru and the lobby how ridiculous is that, and this isn't just once it's every time I come here they only have one person working the only reason I keep goofing to this one is because it's the closest to work and I can get get to it before it... In reading through all of these customer issues, practically all of them are due to a lack of accountability on the customer's part. The customer has to take responsibility for following through and correcting any errors--irregardless of whose "fault" they may be. Mistakes will happen; YOU have to be dilligent enough to fix them. Used to be not a bad bank. Now they charge for everything! I am not going into detail -- but the phone system doesn't work and they keep directing me to the wrong department. I get calls from over 5 different area codes over 8 times a day even if my mortage loan payment is only 1 day late. I get calls all hours just to harass me even at 8AM on Sunday and even at 9:30PM.
