My aunt passed away and she had a checking account with Fifth Third. I am her personal representative. In settling the estate, I closed her account and withdrew the balance. I started receiving notices that the account was overdrawn and they were charging overdraft fees. Three times I've been to the bank for an overdrafts Three times I was told that if one account is overdrawn it will pull from another, if that won't wool it will charge my credit card. Three times they did not fallow this plan and hit me with huge over charges. I called the main office and was promised this would not happen again and it has. I was given promises by two particular bankers in which the promises were lies. The first banker that opened my account that didn't explain the account the right way had quit shortly after because he didn't get a certain position that he wanted. The second banker had stated that all was good to go multiple times for this promise then must have lied to lied to the manager or maybe the manager... Read more

My wife's mother passed away and we needed the past 7 years of her banking information (withdrawals, deposits, checks written etc..) for a lawsuit brought against us. My mother who is 86 needed to wire money. This was a lengthy drawn out process with all the information the employee needed to collect from her. She asked for her identification and noticed my mothers drivers license had expired then asked for a credit card then got up without saying anything. I bought a home through an independent Mortgage lender in January. The mortgage was subsequently sold to 5/3rd in February. Since then, I have encountered total inflexibility with regard to payment scheduling. The mortgage is due on the 1st, and they cannot change it to the 15th. Rep called me to tell me that our current Fifth Third credit card was being replaced by a new chip card. I said fine, send them. Little did I know that I had just applied for a new - i.e. not replacement - card. So I get a call from these incompetent idiots to request a payment over the phone, which I had been doing.
